Happy new year,
It’s a pleasure writing again.
I know I’ve been silent in the past week. I could find good excuses for this absence, but it will mean little to you. Instead, let’s focus on what we will do together from now on.
A recap of 2022
Before we start with this year’s resolutions, let’s go back to June 2022, when I published my first post on The Beubble following the french general elections.
I actively participated in the local campaign here in Brussels, and when the results of the polls went public, I knew I wanted to start a new project. I was energised by this campaign, and I felt that I could channel it into something useful for me and others.
For a long time, I wanted to write and express my thoughts and opinion on EU and French politics. It was the right occasion. With the help and advice of a few friends, I started this newsletter. In the following months, I continued writing daily—almost. As my readership grew, I became more confident, improved my writing skills, and met incredible people. Never once did I regret taking the first step in writing The Beubble.
That’s my favorite piece of advice. Don’t wait to start sharing your expertise online. Not only others can benefit from your first-hand experiences, but it will teach you valuable skills too.
With that out of the way, let’s consider my plan for 2023.
Onwards 2023
I have big plans for 2023—perhaps more than I can chew.
I want to publish more, on different platforms. I want to explore social media such as LinkedIn, Youtube, and Twitter.
But most importantly, I want to bring my expertise and my writing to another level. I don’t want to just comment—although that’s quite fun—but also to put my skin in the game. I want to build a business from this expertise and advise people and companies on all things related to EU policymaking and lobbying. Not only as a way to diversify my income or put bread on the table but also to tie my writing to the necessity of running a profitable venture. In short, to increase the value of my work.
To do so, I am ready to publish more, to do better, to be available to advise those I can help. I set up a marketing strategy. In the near future, you will see changes, additions, and improvements to The Beubble and its network.
That’s why I want to make a deal with you.
A deal with my readers
I can’t do any of this without you.
I can’t write if nobody reads my work. I can’t sell if I don’t bring value to you, my readers.
I want you to see The Beubble as a trove for everything about EU policy and lobbying. I want you to keep going back to its articles for the value they contain, for the stories you will want to share, and for the tips and pieces of advice you will save and apply. So I need to sign a pact with you—a deal. I will do everything in my power to publish valuable content, pieces you will enjoy, save, and come back to. I will regularly report on my progress in doing so.
I want this newsletter to be a conversation between us. If there are topics you want me to explore, questions, or remarks you have, do send me a message. As always, I hope you’ll enjoy these articles as much as I do writing them.
Happy new year.
